    Asus M3N78 audio driver

OK, so I just built a new PC with an ASUS M3N78 PRO motherboard. I installed Windows 7 and almost everything works except for the sound. I have Logitech X-540 Surround Sound speakers hooked up and I installed a RealTec audio driver for Vista x64, which did nothing. Any ideas about how to get this working?

ASUS and their horrible drivers. The best suggestion I can make for now is to uninstall the drivers for now from the Device Manager. Allow W7 to install its drivers via Windows Update.

Not much of a solution but *many* people have issues with their audio cards and ASUS boards, it's not just a W7 issue.

I never bother with onboard anything except for the sata controllers for the sata drives and the chipset! The best place other then using the Windows update option is simply going direct to Realtek's own site. This is the information you see when selecting the OS and Vista 64.

Realtek Audio Driver V5.10.0.5745 for Windows XP/XP MCE/XP 64bit. Realtek Audio Driver V6.0.1.5745 for Windows Vista 32bit/Vista 64bit
    Realtek Audio Driver V5.10.0.5745 for Windows XP/XP MCE/XP 64bit.
Realtek Audio Driver V6.0.1.5745 for Windows Vista 32bit/Vista 64bit

The Realrek ALC1200 High Definition audio codecs search brings you to the page seen there after checking off the download agreement.

I tried the windows update and for some reason it couldn't search for updates. I also tried the drivers from the RealTec site, and those didn't work either.

Now you see why the only time I ever use the onboard sound especially with the constant problems seen with Realtek is when an addon sound card fails! A lot of people seem to have problems with Realtek.

Besides that however is the onboard sound turned on in the bios setup? Since this is on a new build you want to take a look in there to make sure it is. Otherwise nothing will detect the inactive audio chip.

They currently have a windows seven 64 bit driver available ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-. search>motherboard>series Am2-3>model>OS win 7 64> and everything is their. I would suggest updating your chipset as well. Fabe
