USB view is used to show you all USB devices connected to your PC and show pid ID numbers so you can modify the .inf file , modifying the .inf with the correct numbers will or at least should let windows identify the device to allow installation of the drivers ?

Yes I most definitely did that part, but I guess once I have fixed my laptop today I will be starting most of the process from scratch and I'll try it again!
