DVD device can't change to DMA mode

I have a Dell Vostro 1500 laptop, with Mat****a UJ-840D DVD. The device is only working in PIO mode 4. When I change it to DMA mode in Device Manager, the checkbox Enable DMA is unchecked automatically.
Any one can't help me ? I'm running windows 7 RC with latest update

First welcome to Sevenforums. dont hesitate to ask questions someone here will know the answer. Could you use the snipping tool to snip a pic of device manager so we can take a look at it. Also it would be easier for us to help you if you filled out the "my system specs" in control panel. Things like OS (32 bit or 64) vodeo , etc.

    Thanks and waiting for info

Sorry You got the driver for the dvd payer from the dell site or somewhere else?

I dont see that drive listed on support.dell.com, but was able to find a driver here http://www.bioticaindia.com/uj-840d.html. This driver is vista compatible so it should work in win 7. To download you are going to have to register (free). Download and install it. I have not been able to find out much about this drive. there are no support forums ( except in german)

    Hope this helped

Why cant you uninstall this driver, install the correct one then re-boot? Aren't you still having the problem?

    driver?

I can't download driver from uj 840d driver (Matsushita Matshita Panasonic) Vista, XP. When I try to download the driver from that site, they give the option to email the download link, but it not work. And I can't regist for an account. Can u download that driver ?

With the driver W7 install automatically, my DVD work without DMA mode (just in PIO mode 4). So which driver is "the correct one" ? I can't find any driver for my device in windows 7, except the built-in one.
    Thanks

If you are still having the problem you need to find that driver somewhere. I have given you 2 places to get the driver and you cant seem to get if downloaded. Are you sure the dvd drive does support DMA? Are there any other problems that not running in dma gives you?

here is the google search for the driver. uj 840 driver - Google Search

    Thanks for your help.
After searching in google, I found that my device use generic driver. But I can't set to DMA. In my opinion, maybe due to Microsoft driver, or sth else not the driver.
Up to now, I can't solve my prob
