Cursor jumps around - driver issue?

Hi I recently upgraded a friends laptop from Vista to W7.

All went well but the cursor often jumps when you are typing so typed text means that letters are placed at the beginning or middle of a sentence - very annoying.

I think its a driver issue - I have the old Vista drivers - which are called TouchPad Synaptics - do you think I should re-install those?

How do I do that - just go to installed driver devices and remove and re-install or would it be enough to just install the old vista driver and hopefully it will overwrite the potentially corrupt/incompatible W7 driver?

Click Start> Control panel> Mouse. Click Pointer Options. Under Motion move down one notch click Apply lower right and try.

You can then go down another step at a time. Balance with response of mouse. Too low the mouse gets sluggish. Usually three steps is max.

Mine I went down one to get rid of the jitters.

If a Logitech or similar after market mouse it may need its own driver. Logitech you need to go to their website.

If that doesn't work try to re install the Win 7 drivers.
If no go still then try the Vista drivers in Compatability mode if necessary.

CPU usage jumps to 50% when moving cursor around.
Good day everyone, I would just like to mention that this beautiful machine of mine is 5-6 years old, so I'd understand if it's beyond repair, but I'd like to see if this problem could be fixed anyway. For quite a while now, I've been experiencing some frame rate lag, whoever, it only lags...

Moving from Vista to W7 my cursor now jumps around
I have recently upgraded from Windows Vista to W7. Most things are working fine except that my cursor seems to be hyper-sensitive, jumps around without any apparent cause and makes using any typing programme a real chore as it will erase things onscreen if I don't watch every word I am typing or...

Random cursor jumps
ASUS laptop, Windows 7 Home Edition, Firefox browser. Every so often, when I'm typing text in a Comment box on a web site, when I pause to think and start typing again, the cursor jumps backwards through the text - often a few/several lines, within the earlier line of text, and I'm suddenly typing...

Cursor jumps randomly
I replaced Vista with Windows 7 using a clean install. My wife's laptop came with Windows 7 preinstalled. On both of our machines, the cursor occasionally jumps to a different location while typing. (Example: in an email reply, it will jump from the reply I'm typing down to the previous...
