Are there availalbe updates for the Core 2 Duo P9500

Thanks for taking the time to read this and hopefully helping me out.

I have the Intel Core 2 Duo P9500 with driver version : 6.1.7600.16385, I would like to know if it can be updated.

    Thank you

    CPU's don't have drivers.

The mother board has drivers for graphics, usb, PCI slots, Sata controllers for the hard drives etc.

CPU has factory firmware but is set at the factory.

So a bit more specific on what you are looking for would help.

wow, i really don't know a damn thing haha

Thanks for the explanation. Basically, I decided to go on an updating rampage on my laptop and after updating my video card drivers and my sound card drivers, I figured my processor was worth a look. Can you think of anything worth updating?

If there is a website for your model and brand they usually are the best place for the latest drivers.

Check the dates on the drivers sometimes the ones by MS update are newer than the factory listings.

You could also look at your SATA/AHCI controller drivers if they do need to be updated.

The main drivers to update for performance are Gfx, Audio & Chipset!!

Anthony, I ran the Intel Driver Update Utility (Intel® Driver Update Utility)

It tells me that my Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility (Chipset INF) is version 9.1.2.1008 and that it is valid.

Does this mean I do not need to or can not update the chipset drivers?

NoN, where could I find out what my SATA/AHCI controllers are and if they can be updated?

I found some newer ones here

Make sure they are for your chipset before you try to install. (scroll to bottom to check)

To check your sata / ahci goto device manager and expand storage controllers.

Also if you expand the system devices you should see Intel drivers within there.

Go in the Control Panel=>Device Manager, search for the Storage controller.
Mine on the screenshot is Intel.

You can update your Chipset Inf v9.1.2.1008 to v9.2.0.1021 and your Storage Controller (when you'll find it) safely on the Intel Site.

Can you give us a screenshot when you ran the Intel Driver Update utility?? (deploy the little +)

I have attached a screen-shot of device manager and and the Intel utility

I have updated the Intel Chipsets from the Intel sight. I guess we are done?
