How do I share windows 7 printer to XP

Hi I have win 7 64 bit running on my pc and have a HP 4250 Laserjet printer installed and shared. I cannot connect to this printer from my laptop running win XP 32 bit. It keeps telling me that the required drivers are not installed on the server, but every driver I have tried to install has failed. Please could somebody assist me with this problem. Thanking you in advance.

Hi "swifttom" and welcome to Seven Forums. Swifttom, I'd like to suggest that you have a look at this link, hopefully it will answer your question. It appears to be the same problem as your's. If by some chance it does not (very doubtful) come back and you could try "Search" (towards top of page) or click on "Tutorials" (little lower). It is also possible that someone else might have a different solution, we have some extremely talented and friendly people here on SF. The answer is here, we just have to find it. Best of Luck

    Hi Alfred01
I tried the link you sent and did everything it said but I still come undone where it asks me for the drivers. The printer works perfectly of my win7 pc and I have the original driver cd for XP but just can't get the correct driver installed for XP, sorry to be such a bother but getting rather frustrated now. I also tried the advice on the following link but with the same problem Share Files and Printers between Windows 7 and XP - How-To Geek.

Hey Swifttom. Here's the HP driver link for your printer:

HP LaserJet 4250 Printer series - Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center

You will need to install those drivers on your XP machine. During the install it should ask you whether the printer is connected through a network or USB. It should then detect it on the network and you should be good. I am assuming though that the printer is connected through a router via ethernet. If it is connected to the Windows 7 PC you will have to follow the tutorial shared above.
