I have the microsoft keyboard with fingerprint reader, BUT HE HE I cheated!!! and bought the Digital Persona U.ARE.U 4000B FINGERPRINT KEYBOARD (they looks exactly the same) took out the fingerprint reader module and put that in to the microsoft keybard to keep the swedish key layout, so now it works perfect, in fact much better then ever before, the reader is faster and more responsive then before, the 4.11 software is better and works perfect with explorer 8 and of course Win 7 RTM

Blogfeld! with your solution does it work with explorer 8 or is it still as bad as it was with Win 7 BETA???

I don't know what the issues were in Win7 beta, so I can't make a comparison. But in my testing with Win7 RTM, the fingerprint reader worked fine for web site logins I tried in IE8. I wasn't able to get it to register passwords for pop-up browser password prompts (htpasswd) but I'm not sure if that was ever supported anyway.

Everything (including htpasswd prompts) should work fine in Firefox with the Fingerfox (SE) add-on.

    Windows 7 64-bit

Thanks to all contributors for an extremely insightful information! I have Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit and MS Fingerprint Reader. Two questions:

    1. If I follow the procedure from Saulo/Blogfeld on my 64-bit Home Premium, what will happen? Will it work?
    2. If not, do you think it wothwhile to try using 64-bit drivers for another reader and still maintain the Digital Persona stuff?

    Thanks in advance.

    Microsoft Finger Print Reader Refund

I called Microsoft and they are sending me a refund for the Microsoft Finger Printer reader because they said they have no intention on releasing a new driver for Window 7. The refund is for $39.99 but I'm still pissed because I expect Microsoft stuff to work with Microsoft stuff.

i have a similar problem to the op, i have a Jstac Athena 101 Fingerprint Reader, it installs fine but when checking device manager there is nothing listed for biometric devices, the only place i can find and trace of the reader is under USB controlers, leading me to think it is not installed properly due to driver incompatibility.

    any advise welcomed
