    Canon PIXMA iP2000 -setup failure

At first, I used the installation CD (which used to set up the Canon printer with Windows XP). I failed because it is not compatible with my new computer with Windows 7, 64-bit. Then I downloaded an add-on from this page:
    Canon U.S.A. : Support & Drivers : PIXMA iP2000

I still failed. I went to Devices and Printer> Add Printer, but could not find PIXMA iP2000 in the list even after Windows Update. I can't choose the Have Disk function as the CD is incompatible. Canon just replied "Canon does not handle the
driver anymore Microsoft does under Windows 7". Really? What should I do? My printer still works very well and I don't want to dump it. I am also not confident of buying a new printer as such a problem may appear again. Help!!!

The add-on should only be installed AFTER installing the driver via Windows Update.
The printer must be fully connected and turned on for Windows Update to detect it, otherwise no driver will be offered.

I connected my Canon printer, turned it on, and enabled Automatic Updates. The driver was in the list of available updates from Microsoft. After installing that, plus the add-on from Canon, printer works fine.

Thanks. I did turn on the printer, but could not find the update for it. I have approached the computer's manufacturer for help, which asked for the model no., serial no., part no., etc. I hope the problem will be solved!

The problem was no driver for that printer was found by Windows Update. But I finally have the problem fixed in this way: Start Menu > Devices & Printers > right click on the printer's icon, choose Troubleshoot > Apply Fix
The driver was finally found and installed. Now, the printer is working!
