Missing E Drive (does not ready any disc)

Hi everyone. I just bought a new ASUS laptop last week but then I found out that the optical drive is not working. Here's the specs: ASUS A52F-XT22 Laptop Computer - Intel Core i5-480M 2.66GHz, 4GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, Blu-ray/DVDRW, 15.6 Display, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, Gray, 1-Year Warranty / 1-Year Accidental Damage at TigerDirect.com

At first when I started it up, the E drive showed up in "My Computer", but when I put a dvd or blu ray disc in, it wouldnt read it. The disc would just show up as a file with folders. Then the next day, when I installed some ASUS updates, the E drive icon disappeared from my computer. I pretty much tried every possible solution out there: deleting upper and lower filters (i had no upper or lower filters btw), changing the driver name path (did not work), uninstalling and updating the drive (did not work), Windows 7 troubleshooting (did not work), microsoft mr. fix it (did not work) and so on. The weird thing is that when I open device manager, it shows up there and it says that 'This device is working properly'. Also, when I uninstalled the drive and booted it up back, then when it automatically restored the drive, it said that the problem has been fixed, but it was not, there was a dialog box that said "Searching for preconfigured driver folders", but it did not finish searching.

Heres some pictures that I took while trying to fix it. (the order of the pictures go from right to left btw)

In disk management, try reassigning it a letter. It's listed as drive 0. Then check the physical connection of the cd/dvd drive, a wire could be loose, or bent. Than again the drive could just be bad. It happens. If still under warranty, take it back and have them fix it. A temporary inconvenience but might be worth it.
