The D600 is an older p4 (1.7Ghz pre-hyperthreading) They came out before vista was released. I doubt that you will find a driver for them for vista let alone windows 7.

yes my computere can run windows vista i have a hacked vista worked on my pc but i have him replaced for ubuntu
You had vista working? You should be able to get windows 7 working with no trouble then. I have a d600 at work that i will try windows 7 on, when i am back in the office on monday.
The DVD/CD firmware listed on the Dell site should not affect the driver needed for W7. Are you sure that it is the DVD/CD driver that is receiving the error?
It could be the audio or modem. I have had problems on my Dell C610 when I tried to install W7.
I have never said that the driver is the DVD driver I have only said that a driver was
The D600 came out in 2003 or so, not entirely likely that it will support Vista/7 through normal means. Now, a colleague and I HAVE gotten it to work, though I needed no special drivers for the DVD drive when using the RC so I'm not sure where the problem is.
We have not been able to get past 800x600 video because of the lack of video driver, and the Intel wireless software for the card in the system is not compatible, though if you have a relatively simple wireless network setup it should work with the Windows manager as the drivers do install.
FYI, the D600 does not have SATA support, it runs an IDE HDD...
i have a sata support en not a ide .but can anybody tell where i windows vista can download
The D600 does NOT have SATA, it uses ATA-100 (IDE).
You can go to the store and purchase Vista.
I tried installing win7 on a D600 That i have laying around here at work, and while it does install (I just have a cd-rom, not a dvd-rom) the video drivers dont work. You get a max resolution of 800x600, this laptop has the same issues on vista.
