Solved my windows 7 x32 PCI Simple Communications Error

My board is an Intel DG965RY which does not have Windows 7 driver support (other than the chipset inf.) The error is due to a lack of the Intel Management Interface driver. I downloaded (from the Intel support site) the Vista x32 Management Engine Interface driver as I am running 32 bit Windows 7. To sucessfully run this file: click on properties of the downloaded file. On the compatability tab, check the box "Run this program in compatability mode for" and select the drop down for Vista. Near the bottom of the page select Privledge level and check the box for Run as Administrator. If you don't do this the driver will say this operating systems is not supported and won't run. After running this driver I rebooted and went to the bios settings. Under advanced I selected fan detection "on the next boot". I don't know if this step was necessary, but after doing all of the above my device error message is gone. I get lots of help from various forums and this is a give back: Thanks

Here is the solution that works. It is not a Modem, a audio driver, etc. Most people want to have you reinstall windows when that is not neccessary.

Error on PCI Simple Communications Controller
If the Intel® Management Engine (Intel ME) driver has not been successfully installed, you may see an error on a "PCI Simple Communications Controller" in Device Manager.

To resolve this issue, install the Intel® Management Engine Interface driver for your desktop board. This driver can be installed from either:

The Express Installer CD that came with your board (in the Software\Driver\Advance_Fan_Speed_Control__AFSC folder)
The latest driver downloaded from Intel's Download Center.

this worked on all our lab computers and my home PC.
    This worked for me...THANKS pcmilitary

    Hi

Recently upgraded to windows 7 64 bit and was looking to run the intel desktop utilities on windows 7 so I could keep an eye on core temp and the fan and system status in general.

After the install I was getting the PCI Simple communications controller showing up as an issue on systems devices/ hardward for windows 7.

I downloaded the Intel Menagement Engine Interface driver:Intel® Desktop Board DQ963FX Intel® ME: Management Engine Driver for Intel 963/965 Chipset-Based Desktop Boards as suggested by Jake 81 and ran the Setup.exe in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode.

The Missing PCI Simple Communications Controller has been been replaced by Intel Management Engine Interface in System Devices / programs.

However the intel desktop utulties application is still not running? do I still have to install the IDU application for my mobo (DP965lT) and should I install either the windows XP version or Vista 64bit? to get is to show on boot up in the system tray?

I know its been a while since someone posted on this forum thread but any help would be great, failing that can someone suggest an alternative system monitoring device?

    regards

THIS is the solution! - at least for my problem with Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H. Thank you very much, sir! :)

I've thought that this archive is just "another utility" which you can install - if you want some features at the top ... but NO, it's kind of device that certainly need a driver. And that explains sufficiently why this archive package is in Driver section on Gigabyte's website, not with other utils.
However I didn't notice some lack of ... whatever it can cause ... without driver being installed.
