It's doesn't seem to be any problem with it in the device manager. no warning signs or anything. I did try to reinstall the drivers, but it's still not working. (i need my firewire port for my external audiocard)

Maybe it is some sort of conflict what happens if you uninstall the card?

that solved the problem. removed the PCI card and everything is back to normal. guess i have to buy a new one. any recomendations? (i've heard that the best PCI cards for making music contains western digital circuits)
