    DVD multirom not working

    hi friends,

I have an issue with my DVD drive. I have a lenovo W500 with DVD drive "MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ862AC". I have recently upgraded my OS to windows 7 Ultimate 64bit recently after which my DVD drive does not read DVD's anymore but does read CD's. In the device manager its still shows that the device is working properly its also not detected in BIOS aswell.

can anyone give a solution for this issue?

    thanks very much

    regards

Did you do a clean install or an upgrade install? Upgrade installs often cause inconsistencies and problems. In either case I would first try downloading and installing the latest chip-set drivers for your motherboard. Other options I see mentioned a lot are to delete the upper and lower filter, registry entries for the DVD drive. Google it if your interested in trying it.

thanks Pooch, I remember my DVD was working fine before but after I have clean installed windows 7 64bit for the second time its stopped reading only DVD's interestingly it can still read CD's. I have checked the Device manager and I believe the driver for only CD rom is installed by default in windows7 as it shows drive Type as "CD Rom drive", and in driver details its shows "cdrom.sys

I have tried to google for a solution but nothing worked so far!!
