    John, thanks.
I've got that site marked and will certainly read through it for any additional help. I also just found an HP Printer Install Wizard, supposed to help with problem installs, got it downloaded and will try that option also. Will keep you posted.

    Tried again, failed.
Used the wizard. Didn't do any better.

Try to go to: windows hardware compatibility list for windows7-64bit to see if your printer is compatible with and in windows update try to check if there is something in "Restore Hidden Updates".
Sorry if i can't offer more.

    Best wishes.

I tried to install the printer on my notebook (DellXPS Studio), had Windows 7 as an upgrade from Vista. It went.
I printed a sheet off the printer.
During the time I was connected with my notebook, the desktop noticed a new printer through homegroup, The one that won't take it all along. Said its found a printer on the 'HomeGroup', did I want to install it? I clicked yes.
Asked me if I trusted the printer, clicked yes, Windows tried to download files from the notebook to the desktop. Wouldn't take it in the desktop.
Will work on it some more later. We're making headway. Now it works somewhere, not where I want it, but its workable on thenotebook.

Just an idea I have from another post, try doing a system restore back as far as you can go, System Restore[2]=Backup%20Restore
If that doesn't work or you do not have a restore point but do have a windows DVD you could try a repair install Repair Install
