Thx TimmG6376! :) It really worked like a charm... I haven't seen any slowdowns after this tweak.

Marc and xmun: I've got the same error. I'm running Windows 7 build 7022 on an HP Pavilion tx2590eo (Authentec AES1610A), so I can't even install ProtectTools. Has anyone tried contacting Authentec regarding this issue?

This is my work laptop so I couldn't afford to wait for Authentec to answer me - I didn't bother contacting them. If you try and get any positive response please post here :)

For those who are getting the "Set-up Failure!" error, try running TrueSuiteApplication from C:\Program Files\WIN7TS. Set up your fingerprints there - it's the same user interface as what you'd get going through Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Biometric Devices.

Somehow, by using that and even going through the Control Panel after I did that, I don't get the "Set-up Failure!" error anymore. Might just have been a fluke, so it would be nice if some of you can try it out and see if it works.

BTW, this is on a HP tx2522AU tablet.

Problems with the HP 6535B and AuthenTec AES2810

When I go into Control Panel and Biometric Devices, It shows my AuthenTec device but is Unavailable. Any Ideas?

I assume a reboot didn't help. What happens if you run the fingerprint app directly - see earlier post.

Any yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager?

I posted this a while back:

"If you have a fingerprint scanner and are testing the AuthenTec Biometric driver, be aware that their software actually logs your Windows password in plaintext!

You can find the log in

    C:\Program Files\WIN7TS\logging\TrueSuite.EnumWindowsUses.log

I just replaced the password with asterixes. This does effect how the program works.

Just wanted to make sure the maessage gets out.

    Try running c:\program files\WIN7TS\TrueSuiteApplication.exe directly.
