Not sure what you mean. I start the laptop, it boots into the Windows welcome screen and I swipe my finger and it boots to the assigned profile. Also, when the computer hibernates, sleeps, or I lock it, the swipe logs me back in.

The laptop is from MPC (they went bankrupt 2 years ago, no Win 7 support at all). Again, I got them via Windows Update. They showed up as an optional install, and I installed them.

I don't actually have the install files, or if i do, they are packaged as some kind of MS update. I did look in my Program Files directory and TrueSuite was installed. This was done via the update, not by me.

That's exactly what I was hoping for, this gives me hope. Just wonder why I tried to update the drivers, it said I already had the best. So do I just go into security>windows update and let it look, or do I type something else?

I would remove the drivers, remove the hardware (go into device manager and disable the scanner). Then restart the computer and re-enable the fingerprint scanner. My scanner has 4 drivers associated with it.

c:\windows\system32\WinBioPlugins\ATEngineAdapter.dll

I would remove these (an the TrueSuite App) to force windows to search the Update Site.

Just so you know, the date of my driver is 11/24/2009 and is ver 2.0.0.18

Also, one the drivers are installed, you still need to manage the BioMetric device via the Control Panel. You have to enroll your fingerprints. Just search biometric in the run box of the start menu and it will find the proper control panel app.

Let me know how this works for you (better here than PM so others can follow in a solution). I will try to get the drivers I have from Update, but I've never tried it before, so this may take a while.

Ok, I figured out how you can get the latest drivers.

Go to http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/home.aspx which is the Windows Update Catalog site. You will need to install an add-on to use this site. I suspect it is also an IE only site.

Search authentec and the driver is there. The latest one is the one I have - 2.0.0.18.

I would think the update would install the latest version of the software. I'd try that first and see how it goes. Worst case you uninstall everything and run the update again.

The file downloaded should be a .msu file. Just double-click the file and it should run.
