    LifeCam VX3000

    Hi,

I have the above mentioned webcam and Windows 7 Build 7000 x64 will not properly load the driver. Installing the driver is not a problem, but when I connect my webcam and windows tries to load the driver I get an error. This webcam worked in Vista 64 so it's odd that it is not working now. I'm starting to think that it's a permission issue somewhere.

I know one person has posted a similar issue about his VX1000 but that was a week ago and I'm curious to see if someone has managed to get this webcam working or has had another piece of hardware act this same way.

    Thanks in advance.

Sorry Guys I thought I replied to this post, that's odd, it was me who has the problems with BSOD's but as far as installing the driver correctly that was a different story.

You will need to go to your device manager and select your device and upgrade the drivers by manually directing it to your setup disc, it will then find the correct drivers and install them.

    Works

I used your suggestion and it works. It's kind of odd that the old driver works but the new one doesn't. Ah well maybe they'll have this sorted out by RC1.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
I found that site earlier as well but when I installed the driver successfully my system still said there was no web cam installed even though it showed up correctly in my device manager. I ended up reinstalling the driver from device manager by having the driver install wizard search my entire C drive. It found the right driver, installed it and told me to reboot.
    It works now.

I was able to do the manual install before with the old drivers, but now I have misplaced the cd; I figured that won't be a problem, I'll just download the driver from Microsoft.

Anyway, short story made long, it installs the microphone just fine, but for the actual cam it says "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) The specified path is invalid." I looked at the Microsoft help for this error and it was of no help.

I figure since it worked with the old drivers fine, does anyone know where I can get those old drivers or can someone post those old drivers (I think it was called LifeCam 1.6)?? Can't find it on Microsoft site or online...
