    Display Issues

Hi guys just installed windows 7. Everything went fine. When the windows 7 loads it shows the logo and goes black. I had to press f8 and load lowest resolutin possible.

I tried to install nvidia drivers( 8500 gt is what I have) and whenever I do that it seems as if the monitor goes out of sync. It doesn't turn off but my display does and I cant see anything due to the black screen and I have to restart.

    I cant get above 640 480.

Any advice as to getting the nvidia drivers installed.

Ive installed them in safe mode but it's still not working.

When I try to change the display there is the monitor and there is " available display output on nvidia geforce 8500 gt"

but is says no display detected.

Could someone help me out so I can get past 640 by 480 please?

hello, I have a suggestion that might help.. uninstall those nvida drivers, you may have to go to safe mode to do that, and install the vista drivers it may solve your problems.. as it appears the w7 drivers from nvida are still not stable enough, source

I don't have vista. I fresh installed from xp after wiping it.

The nvidia also doesn't install because when I go to install it the monitor goes out of sync. Kinda shuts off my screen but I don't lose power.

System specs would be nice. You may be dealing with the need to force EDID, but I (we) can't fix what we can't see (specs, please).

My condolences. Did you enter BIOS and set the new card slot as your default graphics card?

Then, use this tool. DriverSweeper, almost as good as DriverCleaner but free and works when I need it too.

Then, install your card. The way I would do it - extract the files to a dir, or stop the install process once the files are extracted. Go to Device Manager, select display adapter, update/install driver, let me choose, navigate to driver folder (not just the extracted folder), select any file and go.

I know, when I said install the Vista drivers , I meant install the vista drivers on Windows 7, windows 7 can use most vista drivers, and from what I heard with this adapter the new windows 7 drivers are still not very good, so try the vista drivers as they are more stable..
