    HP OfficeJet R65 driver problem

    Hello everyone.
I have a HP OfficeJet R65 connected via parallel port, as it was supposed to be connected since it's an old printer. The printer works, but there's no way to make the scanner work with Windows 7 driver.
I questioned HP support website where it's recommended to use those included drivers and I noticed that there's no mention about the scanner in the support page.
So I contacted HP and their reply was:

"... Try to use Windows Vista drivers, otherwise there's nothing to do."

Now... first of all I don't know how to obtain those drivers, since they are in some archive in Windows Vista DVD/CD or whatever.
I was thinking about the installation of a virtual machine (even windows 98 would be good) to use the whole device as it is supposed to work, but I don't know, and I don't think, there would be the possibility to share LPT port, so the solution should be ineffective, because I could not install natively the device on the virtualized OS and sharing the device would not solve the problem, since the scanner does not work in win7.

Any suggestion? (other than buy another printer)

    Thanks a lot.

    Dave

only thing you can do is make windows search for driver update.

make shure window has enabled option to update drivers.

to do that do the folowing:
    press start>devices and printers,
or find devices and printers in control panel.
now when new window open rightclick on pupup at the top and select last option "open device installation settings"
here choose first radio button and save. (let windows search for drivers)
now goto device menager and update driver.

if this doesn't work download drivermax and try with that software.
max driver will find the driver for shure if windows doesn't!

hi sasanet, thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately neither winodows nor driver max were able to find a working driver for the on-board scanner of my old officejet.

I'll try to find vista driver someway and if I fail... I think it will be time to change my working device.
