Webcam not working on Sony vaio laptop VGN-SZ4MN/B

Cannot seem to get the webcam to work in any application, I think I need correct drivers or something, been on the sony website and downloaded everything that I thought would be relevant to no avail...

    Anyone able to advise?

For example when I use Windows live messenger it says "we cannot connect to your webcam, your webcame may be in use by another program, please check it and try again"

Hi, Thanks for the link, I've had a look under Camera, there are quite a few, haven't any idea what each one relates to, does anyone know?

    Hi,

Downloaded the Camera drivers, There is a .inf, .cat & 2 .sys files, if i double click on .inf opens in notepad, right click install, says "the inf file you selected does not support this type of installation", and if you right click on the file then properties there is no compatibility option...

I have tried going to devices and printers, right click on usb composite device (which has a camera icon) and updated the driver to the one i downloaded but I don't think this is the correct way of doing this is it? as the webcam is built in and not a usb device.

    thanks in advance.

    Hi Guys
I have a similar problem with my new Sony VAIO (VPCCA15FG model)

The camera works on nearly Black and White mode and poor quality, on both Skype and the webcam companion (software included as factory feature), trying to make it better on the SETTING panel I've noticed an unmarked box tagged ENABLE COLOR, but it is impossible to mark this box.
I assume that there is something wrong with a driver.

On the DEVICE MANAGER the camera is recognized as USB 2.0 CAMERA, uninstalled and reinstalled with no changes.

    Thanks for your help.
