the one problen with driver update programs is that they all have different drivers and dates so you are relying on (especially a free site) them to give you the most current driver. I dont use them. had too many times it upgraded a driver to a bad one and didnt upgrade one that needed it

Hah im willing to pay for it =) I dont want a free one =)
The best driver update tool is your keyboard. You know what hardware you have and where you got it. If you choose not to be on the providers mailing lists, check the appropriate sites when you have an issue/problem, or whenenever else you might check.
I use Maxthon for some of my Web activity - driver updates for one. I have a Group (collection of links) called Drivers. I open the group, check out the "Updated" date field and, more often than not, move on. Since I do this every month or so, I can easily detect a (possibly) new version.
Perhaps it is the cynic in me, but IMO, automatic driver management tools prey on the people least able to use them correctly. Again, IMO, such tools are written as a vehicle to generate sales or ad revenue.
Just my two cents.
There are numerous such programs out there - some are free and some require payment (shareware). However, I consider these to be a total waste of time and don't recommend their use. If you know what hardware is in your system, then go to the relevant hardware manufacturer and download updated drivers (when they are released) for free.
Couldn't agree more with Antman and Dwarf. That and the only drivers that should need to be updated are video and audio; bugfixes, new game comes out (and the driver is updated to support the game), etc. Everything else (motherboard, ethernet, etc) should only be updated if there is a fix listed that for a problem you are having; there is very seldom any performance benefit from updating these drivers, and in a lot of cases can mess up a working system by installing them.
Same here only it is Firefox and the folder is called Updates.I use Maxthon for some of my Web activity - driver updates for one. I have a Group (collection of links) called Drivers
