Wireless Driver

Hi,

I just did a reformat of my HP laptop Pavilion dv6,
Model: dv6-2152nr
Product: WA763UA#ABA
Windows 7 64Bit Home Premium
Intel Core I3 M330 Quad

After reformatting I got all the drivers directly from HP software and support where they had 4 drivers under the Network tab for this specific laptop. I installed all 4 of them but the computer still cant detect wireless signals or connect to them. When I use windows troubleshoot it says might be a problem with driver. So Ive tried reinstalling them, compatibility mode, i tried an older version of the broadcom lan wireless driver. Still no luck. and according to the device manager there is one unknown device still. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

More than one driver usually makes all of them not work. Go to device manager>network>wifi>properties>hardware ID's

take the hardware ID and google it. that will tell you who makes it and then find the correct driver for it

How To Find Drivers:
Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

Thanks for the reply, I uninstalled all drivers through windows programs then used google to find the correct broadcom driver and installed and still same problems. Windows knows the hardware is there in device manager but still cant pickup wireless networks, says "wireless network adapter is experiencing problems".

Can you check in event viewer to see what is logged there?

There are several ways to find what the problem is. The best is to go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search). Go to the windows log>application tab.

You want to look for critical errors (they have red in the left column ).

When you find them you want to look for critical errors that say anything that relates to the problem.

When you find them please note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.

Thanks again for the reply

I checked for the event viewer and there were no critical errors just routine events regarding antivirus updating etc. So im going to try reinstalling the OS to rule out anything I did with installing and uninstalling multiple drivers.

I just reinstalled and so far all I have done is completely updated the OS, im following this list

Driver Install Order

So now im looking at device manager and there is only two devices missing drivers, unknown device and "PCI/VEN_14E4&DEV_4357&SUBSYS_145E103C&REV_01" which is the hardware ID for the network controller. So do I just install drivers for what is missing or do I go through and install all of them? chipset, audio, video, etc.

Thanks!
