You need to be using v0.9.098 that I posted if you're not. There's an entire thread JUST on MST for Windows 7 on the MST website if you want to see if other people are having similar troubles. The thread youve posted is concerned with Vista and XP, but it may still be useful.

MST will work regardless if you use Mediacentre or not. Alot of people simply use it in your circumstance, to make sure their computer can come in and out of sleep without problems.

NOTE: When playing with MST, you may have to restart after changing settings. Always restart and then try sleep in between changing settings for ease of troubleshooting.

Make sure in the devices Tab in MST (after hitting refresh) the keyboard is ticked so it's allowed to wake the computer, as well as the mouse. In fact, I'd tick EVERYTHING in there except LAN cards, to make sure you've got everything set to wake up the computer. I'll send a screeshot later tonight if you're having trouble.

In the USB tab, you probably want to start off with "USB selective suspend disable" UNticked. Then try it ticked to see if you're keyboard will wake the computer up. If the mouse won't work on Resume, try the next 2 boxes in the tab, tick the disable fastresume box and try and then the other one (can't think what it is called) and try. Then try them together.

Also, MST makes a log file while its being run. That log file is usually stored in your C:\Users\"Your user Name" directory for example on mine it would be in the C:\Users\Administrator folder. If you can upload that file, I can have a look and try to see what is going on.

The powercfg command run in command prompt in Win 7 is also an excellent tool. You can find out what drivers\processes are causing the computer to stay awake by typing:

    powercfg -requests

This will list the system devices\processes, if any, that are requiring system time and stopping the computer from sleeping, however with MST enabled, it should force sleep regardless of the process. It seems this is what is happening, you just can't get it to wake, like me before I updated the RAID drivers.

    powerfcg -energy

This command firstly monitors your computer's power needs for 60secs and settings, analyses the results and then produces an .html log file. If you can upload or copy\paste this, we can see if anything is massively out of the ordinary (almost always there are errors in this log file, but they don't always effect the power settings for sleep)

    DER! Stupid me!

I just realised, you said you were using a PS/2 Keyboard didn't you?

I've never had any luck, ever with waking a computer from a PS/2 keyboard. You can't select the keyboard and tell it to wake the computer anywhere in Win settings, OR in MST. Win 7 and MST only deal with USB devices properly for sleep. I even have a secondary PS/2 keyboard plugged in so I can access the BIOS as sometimes my USB keyboard plays up after restart before entering windows, but the PS/2 keyboard will not, no matter how I try, wake the computer. If you got it to work in Vista and XP, you're very lucky, cause I've never been able to.

Can you wake the computer with the mouse? You may need to move it vigourously and click it several times. It also needs to be selected in the Devices tab of MST (as I said, selecting everything but LAN is an easy way of making sure, as it's not always the one that says mouse, often they have a secondary driver that needs selecting too). If not, all I can suggest is trying to get a cheap USB keyboard and see if that works. I've never looked back since PS/2 was replaced, it was troublesome at best.

Oh, and try going into command prompt first, THEN typing powercfg -energy. I'm not sure what happens when you type it in run, I've never done it. The File will be located in your C:\Users\"Your User name" folder eg. C:\Users\James

Ok I have a usb keyboard which I kept aside assuming that was causing this sleep problem, let me connect that & I will update the status.

One Step Forward, One Step Back

Well, I hope that works for you.

It appears my system will go in and out of S3 sleep quite happily, but it refuses to come out of hibernation. I guess it's still the RAID driver causing problems, cause I'm still getting disk errors in my events log. Not the end of the world, but annoying nonetheless.

Might try and different build if I can get my hands on one....and can be bothered!

    I did a clean install of x64 build 7600
Te 1st time boot at default bios setting made the computer sleep perfectly (without instant restart)
But the mouse & keyboard could not wake it up ps2 keyboard lost power.

so On 2nd boot I changed the BIOS setting >power>APM setting> enable mouse & keyboard to wake up.

I then rebooted & did windows update it installed ACPI driver ( ATK0110 ACPI UTILITY) made the computer sleep but now it restarted just after 2 sec of sleep so actually it did not go into sleep mode.

    Is ACPI causing some trouble?

Reading some of the other posts makes me realise what an ignoramus I am in these matters hence an even greater need for assistance!
Ever since installing Windows 7 on a dual boot basis as an alternative to my Windows XP installation I have experienced problems with the standby function, or rather awaking from sleep mode. The implications are rather more serious with Windows 7 there being no standby function as such and there appears to be no way of waking the computer from sleep mode other than to do a hard re-boot by removing the source of power as currently it will not respond to either the mouse or keyboard or even the power button.
Regarding the the Windows XP installation recovery from standby mode is now effected by use of the power button (as opposed to user of either the mouse or keyboard hitherto) which restores Windows XP without however re-booting as in the case of Windows 7 installation.
I have noted references in forum posts that the installation of Windows 7 effects one's bios settings but this being unknown area to me I would wish to be better informed before attempting to make any modifications there n order to effect a solution.
Currently on accessing the America Megatrends bios under Power the drop down menu indicates against Suspense mode - S3 only followed by ACPI support - No and finally ACPI APICS Support as being enabled
Frankly the foregoing references are meaningless to me but hopefully may suggest the source of the problem to someone better informed. All assistance towards finding a remedy would e appreciated.

    Hi.

I'm having a problem with my ACPI Sleep Button.

My notebook won't enter sleep mode and it looks like the sleep button itself is causing it.

This shows up after running the POWERCFG -LASTWAKE:

    Wake History Count - 1
    Wake History [0]
    Wake Source Count - 1
    Wake Source [0]
    Type: Device
    Instance Path: ACPI\PNP0C0E\2&daba3ff&1
    Friendly Name:
    Description: ACPI Sleep Button
    Manufacturer: (Standard system devices)

There is nothing in my BIOS to configure power options.

Is there a way to setup ACPI S1 or S3 in the registry?

If yes, I think that would probably solve my problem.

Attached the MST and DevDiag report.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
