Win 7 Sleep and Wake Issues
Hi Everyone,
I'm hoping you guys can help me, seeing as your the number 1 Google search and all on Win 7 threads!
I've been happily working away with Vista x64 Home Premium no problems and my Hauppage HVR2200 worked awsomely and SOOO reliably. My power was less reliable than my recordings!
However, now having Dual-booted our lovely friend Win 7 x64 first Beta and now RC 1(7100), I'm having some issues similar to those I used to have on my old computer running Vista x86 Home Premium:
1) Won't come out of sleep by the mouse or keyboard. I'm running them through a Hub but even before they were through the hub it didn't work. I haven't got any software installed for either and am going to give it a go, but it's never worked before. I've also started running MST, which I had to use on my old computer to get Vista to come out of sleep for recordings. Hasn't seemed to have worked yet.
2) And more distressingly, IF it wakes up for a Media Centre recording, or update or whatever, 9/10 times it blue screens or locks up when it does, or after its finished and trying to go back to sleep. I have several .dmp files and plenty of events, but all I've been able to narrow it down to are: I have an external hard drive that I run Roboform password manager and my email off, so its constantly being read- apparently USB devices like that can cause some trouble. OR It's a driver issue, quite possibly either the Intel RAID driver (RAID 0) I'm using or my LAN driver (Realtek RTL8168D).
I've tried updating the RAID drivers, but I have the latest ones apparently. I have also tried updating to the latest realtek LAN drivers.....which stop my network connection working at all.
I'm ALSO getting HAL STOP errors showing up quite often in my event viewer, so I updated my BIOS (BIOS F7), and after rebuilding my RAID array, thank you very much Gigabyte, it achieved nothing and the HAL errors keep showing up.
Sorry that was so long, but having come off a Vista x64 system working brilliantly and REALLY looking forward to transferring to 7 after playing with the Beta, it's very annoying. There are so many things I love about 7, but it's obviously having issues with something I have or haven't done.
One final note- My Hauppage is a PCIe 1x connection, but I had to put it in a PCIe 4x because the space behind the 1x on the UD5 is about 1.5".....useless design....however, before I updated to BIOS F6a in March, when I was on F5, the computer wouldn't boot with the tuner installed. My guess was that the PCI lane cross-connections were a but buggy and the BIOS revision fixed it and I haven't had any problems since, but it could be a factor somehow.
ANY help at all would be appreciated and thanks for taking the time to read a novel
