Windows 7 Compatibility: Software Programs & Hardware Devices: Find Updates, Drivers, & Downloads
Welcome Jayesh, I upgraded from XP Pro to Win7 Ultimate X64 and had only one program fail to run on the X64 system. My printer and scanner are 4+years old but the makers had drivers to run them in Win7, although with reduced options. There are also many which will run just fine in Compatibility mode for XP.
That Windows 7 Compatibility that p5bdkw mentioned will tell you about anything that will not work and what hardware will need newer drivers.
Another option for you would be to upgrade to Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate then you can use XP mode, a free download from Microsoft. Then any XP programs can be used from within Win 7 as if they are native but would actually be in a virtual machine in XP mode.
In my experience, most programs run fine with a few exceptions. The real problem comes in supporting older hardware whose drivers the mfr has decided not to release a new driver for.
Britton advice is good:). Windows Xp Mode is a great program to run many old Xp programs which are not compatible with windows 7. Virtual Box and VMware-player are also great programs and they are all free!!Another option for you would be to upgrade to Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate then you can use XP mode, a free download from Microsoft.
