Windows 7: downloads not going to c drive

downloads not going to c drive

When i try to download a program its says low disk space even though my c drive has 200 gb free space. my thinking is that its downloading into the recovery which is completly full. im using windows 7 please help i need to install a virus program asap

Hi tj1287 and welcome to SF!
With the browser open, hold Ctrl + Shift + Del to open the cache cleaner. Uncheck boxes
whose caches you want to preserve and then delete / clean now. Now:

Internet Explorer 9 > start the download. At the bottom of the browser window, click the arrow and "save as ". See below.

Mozilla Firefox > go to Tools > Options > General Tab > select "save files", click browse and select the folder of your choice. Click OK to close Options. See below.

You can just click save and then direct it to where you want it.

Don't download files to "recovery" then. When you click on a link to download don't you get a screen that wants you choose a location to place the file? Make your selection there; Otherwise, it will default to the last folder used for download.
