Sony vaio PCG-7183M problem with touchpad

i have a problem with my touch pad and the left and right button, so basically entire mouse is not working. i have tried using the the keyboard to go to control penal and look at the properties of my mouse. (see the attachment please) in the mouse property in the hardware panel there is nothing, it is empty.

and so i tried turning off my computer and started it by keep holding the F8 key to take me to that black page where i can go to safe mode or the option repair my computer.
i have click on both in different timing but the problem that i face was that you know when my computer starts up where then it asks for my password, in there my keyboard stops working but it still works in that black page when i turn my computer back off and on. so i cant even log in to my computer.

i tried everything possible but i couldn't find any solution.

Please can you help me i am in big trouble.

Hello Maria and welcome to Seven Forums.

I have a Sony Vaio VPCEB47GM and it had a similar touchpad problem. I had to update the touchpad driver and that fixed everything. You might be able to use this Sony eSupport website to Auto Detect your specific model and then go to the Drivers/Software update site. Install the latest touchpad driver.

Sony eSupport - Computers - Notebook - Select Your Model

If the above eSupport site doesn't work for you, you could also do a search for Sony Support for your country. Please let us know if this helps or not.

I'm not sure which one of these sites will be the most help but they're both for the UK.

Main Page | Sony Support Europe

    VAIO : Sony Europe

EDIT: pebbly beat me to it. She always was faster on the keyboard! :)

Hi. no i tried everything but i cant find the touch pad driver for my computer model.
BTW my computer model actually is VGN-NW4S my brother just pointed it out to me the other no. in the title is not correct because i got it from the bottom of the laptop.

so now you might want to do a search on the model again. well i did it my self they did recognise it but i couldn't find no driver for touch pad.

Please find it and send it to me.

and other thing to bear in mind is that the keyboard also doesn't work.

    thanks

I'm at work so it may take a while for me to search for the keyboard and touchpad drivers (if they are available.) In the meantime here's something else you can try. Shut down the Vaio using the usual shut down button. Unplug the AC adapter if you're using it. Remove the battery. Hold down the lappy's on/off/power button for at least a full minute. Reinstall the battery, plug in the AC adapter (if you were using it), and power up the computer. See if the keyboard and touchpad work. See post # 12 here:

Hi Mariaabassi, here is the original driver that came with the laptop VAIO : Sony Europe It's the "Pointing Device/Touchpad driver " about halfway down the list :)
