    try HP support

Try download drivers for your hp dv4, since we have the same machine 1222nr, hp support site has a list of drivers for windows 7
    here:
Select your operating system HP Pavilion dv4-1222nr Entertainment Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

unluckily, drivers and software for quick launch buttons haven't made... but its ok without the software, the volume and play buttons will still work...

I have the same problem, as the Topic Creator is experiencing. And I would like to clarify what he's saying a little. With the quick launch buttons, the "Mute" button stays red, and doesn't change to blue. This is not because the quick launch button isn't working, nor does it mean that the volume is set to mute, because when you press it the volume does change states. It is however a post code used to show that the internal speakers from HP are not installed correctly, or not registered.

Which is the problem, when I open up my playback devices, only two are listed, Speakers and Dual Headphones, (for the front headphones jacks only) and the SPDIF. (for the HDMI output) I know one user posted that the default for Win 7 settings it set to Headphones, and to just change it to internal speakers. However there is no Internal Speaker setting like there was for Win Vista.

I've been searching the forums, and around online I have yet to find any solution to this problem, however I have found that many people are experiencing this same problem w/ dv4-1222nr when they install unbuntu.

And Yes I've updated my drivers.

So instead of installing the bugged Win 7 Drivers, I actually just installed the drivers from Windows Vista, restarted the computer, set my Laptop Speakers to default and it works fine. Hopefully this will also fix the Topic Creators problem. I used the drivers straight from HP's website.
