Audio driver

For some time now, the audio jack socket on my laptop has been broken. I have tried all I can to fix it, but have had no luck. I know some laptops have a microphone and audio socket in one, so is it possible to install a driver to make my microphone able to plug speakers / headphones in? If there is, it would be great for me to know

matthewthebrave, Welcome to SF.
To my knowledge there is no settings or software to accomplish this.

But this or something like it will solve your dilemma.

If the jack is mechanically/electrically broken then there is no way to load a driver to fix it. You could take it to a shop and ask them to replace the jack. Another alternative would be to use a USB sound card such as the Sound Blaster X-Fi Go! Pro External USB Sound Card which would contain its own jacks.

staying along the lines of what strollin said, you best option is to use USB audio though i dont feel a USB soundcard is the right solution of all your after is personal Audio, if that is the case then just a set of USB headphones would be the best option since they run their own sound device
Also if you get the ones with a mic then you will not have to worry about the broken jacks at all
Logitech seem to have a good range of USB headsets with good clear mics for a reasonable price
