Graphics driver error keeps bugging me

    Hi everyone
Can anyone please please please tell me why I am getting this error from time to time?
The display sort of hangs for a few moments, screen goes blank for a second and starts again. No programs are affected in any way, just the display
I have tried letting the computer search the drivers for my display card automatically from the Internet (something I don't usually do nor like to do) but it says my drivers are up-to-date and doesn't install anything.
How can I stop this from happening?

    Thank you very much

"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the bluescreen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".

Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OSs like XP to crash.

As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.

If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.

If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.

Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.

Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.

If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.

I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps Let us know if you need help STOP 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR troubleshooting

    OK here's an update
I have downloaded and installed the official drivers from the DELL website
and still I see this problem from time to time
I cannot say for sure, but I think I see this more often when I try to Notepad++ window (however, it happens at other times as well, but not so frequently)
Can there be any kind of relationship? Or do I need to install an older version driver and if so, how do I do it?

Ok I have installed graphics drivers and chipset drivers as well and it's still the same
    What should I do now?

OK I see that this happens mainly when I try to resize windows (and not just Notepad++; still my problem is that it doesn't always happen so I cannot recreate it myself; it happens randomly, but more frequently if there are many windows open and I try to resize the one on top)
    Now how do stop this?
Is there any way to disable this Aero theme?
I would be happy to make everything look like XP if this problem will be solved
or If I have to install and older driver, how do I do it and where do I get it?

Might just be note[pad++ and win 7 \

You can disable aero but that isnt usually the problem. Just go into personalization s and pick a theme that isnt aero

Graphics Driver Failed & Recovered + Blue Screen Reboot

    I have the some problem.

For me, it is replicatable by zooming in on Google Maps. Zoom in more than 3 times and it blue-screen reboots every time.

Like Mahaju, all the drivers report they are updated and the latest versions.

Does anyone have a solution ?
