What are the USB devices, and do you always plug each one into the same port?

this is my situation, rays of sunshine...champagne from heaven?

i have a gps watch with a cradle, a smart card, and external drive. i use an hp mini. i plug into the sam port every time. i have tried plugging into others, (i have three) same result. my computer automatically detects & installs. when i plug them in...(makes the sound and eveything)..sometimes i can use them during the istallation process, other times i have to wait; it's a crap shoot. I'm thinking(and looking for) manually disabling detection, or adding drivers to a list, but i cant find it. i have win7 starter, may need an up grade ( you can't even change the wallpaper in 7 starter, really!, limited functions)..thank you bill gates..

I think you should seriously consider upgrading to Windows 7 Home Premium.

You can use Windows Anytime Upgrade to do it, which means you get a new product key e-mailed to you once your payment has been accepted.

Is this a standard Windows 7 Starter install, or is it a modified version, like the kind you can make with 7Lite? If it's a standard install, did you install Windows or did the computer come pre-installed with it? Has this always been a problem or did it recently start?
