I have intel hd 3000 but it shows intel hd family

This laptop is an acer as5749-6607 core i5-2450m. On the sticker it shows intel hd 3000. When i try update the intel hd family in the device manager it says it up to date, so i go to the intel website and download the driver there. But it doesn't work, it says it doesnt meet the requirements. How do i get the right driver?

Hi de hi, welcome to SevenForums

I don't know which driver you have tried to update, Intel family usually denotes chipsets, the one you want is a graphics driver.
Go here you will see Intels auto driver checking tool.

This is what my device manager looks like

Again, I'm suppose to have Intel HD Graphics 3000. Says it on the sticker.

Unfortunately, Acer has chosen to force you to use only the drivers provided by them by changing the hardware ID. Generic drivers from Intel can't be used (unless some advanced driver package inf file editing is done. Note that in this case the driver would lose the WHQL signature). I'm sorry.

Yet in the other thread you started yesterday it seems to have worked, sufficeintly to improve your WEI score.

I have exactly the same thing on my Dell XPS 15. Device manager shows Intel HD graphics family because Dell have made it so I can only download the drivers from their support site.
You will unfortunately have to wait until acer put a later, more up to date version on their support site.

Yes! This is what happened. I had to uninstall the acer's custom driver and install the one from intel. It gave a significant boost in the WEI score.

We know only what he tells us, and he said it didn't work. How could we know?

What happened is that Intel probably included the Acer SUBSYS somewhere along the way. All Intel GMA devices carry their OEM's SUBSYS identification, and then at some juncture Intel puts them in the generic driver, probably when they agree that it can.
