Software to run HP C6180 all-in one printer etc. in 64 bit Win 7.

I have a HP C6180 all-in one printer. Recently bought new desktop that has preloaded win 64bit Win 7. I loaded original HP cd to run it. I can print from computer, I can copy from computer, I can scan and reprint BUT! I cannot scan and save to computer. attempting to scan to memory device causes the Message: no computer needed (!) press OK, message: Save Failure and Memory device not found.
I have a lot of pre digital camera photographs that I would like to scan and save.
I have downloaded from HP an update but still no joy at scanning and saving.
It has been suggested that the driver is OK but need Software to correct error?
I am really not very knowledgeable re computers (old duffer) 'elp if you can please!

You need to download the full software for the printer. I had recently fixed this problem at a business. It shouldn't take to long to install. I have provided you with a link that will take you directly to the download. An alternitive is you can scan by using the computer instead from starting from the printer.

Thank you for the quick response.
Still have problem in that after download, and at after starting to install, (user\user\appdata\local\temp\7zs2d65\setup\setup\blocksyuserrinsta....) installation stops and message: The system cannot find the file specified.
I disabled virus scanner as suggested. Also noticed that the first choice at the pre installation seemed greyed, athough it was ticked.(but that could be my imagination)
I believe I followed instructions. Did I need to have printer on and connected?

    1. Ensure the printer is switched off and disconnected from a USB port.

    2. Download the driver and save it to a location of your choice.

    3. You can download it here: Software & Driver Downloads HP Photosmart C6180 All-in-One Printer - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

    4. Before you install the software right-click the installer and choose Run As Administrator, accept the UAC prompt and comply with any instructions you see.

    5. You should be told when to switch the printer on and when to connect the USB cable.

Yes have tried that and again following all instructions. Except run as administrater. There no response to right click at any point when the installation stage was reached.

Still have same error at start of download : Message the system cannot find the file specified.

As before, in the choice of downloads box, all items are ticked but the first box appeared 'greyed'if that the correct way to describe it?

the .exe file that you downloaded, that is the file you need to right click on and choose run as administrator. not just double click to start the process.
