Unable to install new video card driver on W7 64 bit

So My new W7 Home Premium 64 bit PC doesnt seem to want to sleep. I'm away to work for a day at a time and when I get home the PC is up and running.

I found this article:Windows 7 will not sleep or not sleeping

which indicates to update driver, particularly the video card driver. I go to the vendor site and download the newest driver. I go to Device Manager open Display Adapters and find my card, double click on that and I'm in the properties. The driver date is 9/2010 so there is definitely a newer driver. Click on update driver/search on computer and navigate to the folder where I downloaded the new driver. I click next and get "Windows has determined that the current driver software for the device is up to date" and thats it, no apparent way around.

So a couple of questions; 1. Is this even necessary or is this a wild goose chase prompted from the online article, and 2. If it is necessary how do I get this done?

Did you try running the installer for the driver you downloaded?
