Is APC PowerChute necessary with Win7?

    Hi Guy's
    I got a solution from the APC forum which solved my problem.
    I have copied the short reply from there below if anyone is interested.


    [ You need to install PowerChute Business Edition part number SFPBCE911 Software / Firmware

    The other option you have is to install apcupsd | A daemon for controlling APC UPSes and configure that application for Serial Comm. ]

    I only loaded the first option, it worked a treat, you get a nice web page to do the config on.

    To each his own at the time i worked for EDS they were in charge of General Motors Communications and these were software engineers say this. I really do not need a piece of software to tell me that the lights are out.

    I just needed to have some software that would close a server down, that was 30miles away, without crashing everything and giving me more work re-building it.

    I have that now and it works very well.
