    Realtek 8187 code 38

    Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit
    HP Pavilion PC
Realtek 8187 based USB Wificard (Alfa 036h)

Was working good for a few weeks and now it keeps connecting/reconnecting to my PC over and over (like i'm unplugging/plugging in the usb cable over and over with the dings)

tried uninstalling all the drivers, rebooting, and reinstalling..no dice...
redownloaded latest drivers from alfa website no luck
redownloaded latest drivers from reltek website no luck

under properties in device manager it says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)"

    I'm stumped...ideas?

Is it under warranty, if so contact HP and they will replace it.
If not purchase a USB wireless adapter for +/- $20 and enjoy better connections then with the old one.

I don't mean to be rude but you're reply isn't very helpful...

The Alfa 036H is an external USB wireless card that did not come with my computer. It is an aftermarket wireless I bought that has a special 5db gain antenna for long range so I can access my wireless router that's on the other side of the house. I'm not looking to purchase another new wireless card, as this one worked for several months.

    Thanks though.

I don't mean to be rude either but you did not mention that it was an external card but my advice remains the same, if it is under warranty return it, if not buy a new one.
