AHCI Drivers Corrupt Windows 7  

This happened when I was booting today after turning it of last night after using it successfully since I bought it.
The AHCI Drivers are corrupt.
Windows won't load, it is stuck on the load screen.
Trying to repair windows using the various F8 options doesn't work because they won't load either.
Even the recovery partion won't load, it's stuck on the Acer E Recovery screen "please wait" and it is stuck for several hours on this.
Now, in BIOS, when I change to IDE mode, it will load the various F8 options like trying to fix windows, but the problem doesn't solve itself.
Also, the recovery partion does load, but it only gives me an option to install everything to factory settings, not just reinstall windows.
However, Windows 7 won't actually boot on IDE mode, so I can't actually get into Windows 7.
Therefore, my AHCI drivers are corrupt while the IDE ones are fine. How do I install fresh AHCI drivers to fix my corrupt ones from a USB stick? I do not have a windows install disk, it is all on the recovery partion/recovery disks.

If it is still under warranty contact Acer and they will probably ship you out a new HD with a image on it ASAP.

it is still under warranty, but it would be a major pain because I would lose all my files. While I wouldn't die from losing them, it would be a major inconvenience.
I have two hard drives, would it be possible to install XP on the second (D) hard drive so I can try to recover files from my first hard (C) drive?

OK thanks for the help.. stupid Acer... this will be the third time I have to send the damn thing back to the factory.
One more question though: can you install 64 bit Windows 7 in IDE mode or it's simply not possible?

A quick question. Was the AHCI options already selected in BIOS and installed when you received the laptop from the factory/dealer?

I know from experience if W7 is installed on IDE and the later in BIOS AHCI is chosen, W7 will boot and install driver but it leads to a whole host of problems. In other words to use AHCI and for it to work smoothly you need to have the option selected in BIOS prior to installing. This is from my own personal experience so any gurus please chime in.

The AHCI options were already enabled.
Windows 7 Home Premium x64 for me could never ever boot in IDE mode, never ever EVER. It always led to a BSOD.
Not that I cared, until now.
Acer contacted me today saying they will cover parts and labor under the standard warranty for the repair.
But 3 times in less than a year sending a laptop in for repair... it's just unaccesptable. And this was not a cheap computer, it was $1300 that I got on sale for $1000 (maybe because it was a piece of crap, but too late now lol)
My bro had an Acer for 4 and a half years without problems before the hard drive finally crashed.
Either I have a lemon, or Acer just sucks, as GianniDPC and many others have stated, Acer just sucks now.

If you need to backup your files, setup IDE and download PartedMagic and burn to a CD from another computer. You can boot up that program and backup to an external drive if you have one handy.
