I always thought we were here to help people recover from what the Geek Squad did or didn't do to their PC.

The Audigy series shouldn't be a problem as there is a Windows 7 driver for them. I have used both an Audigy ES (same as the original Audigy only without the firewire port, and since retired) and an Audigy 4 (currently in use in my kids computer) with Windows 7, both 32 and 64 bit. As far as the driver for them goes I never used the official driver for either but used this instead,

SB Audigy Series Support Pack 3.8 (04/19/2010)

with no problems. In colossus1958's case it could be the card is bad, the PCI slot has gone bad, or a lack of proper chipset drivers. The Intel 975X chipset (according to the gateway specs for that computer) should have native Windows 7 support, but it wouldn't hurt to run the Intel update utility,

and see if that helps with getting the Audigy to work.

As far as the Live series goes the biggest problem with them is how old they are (originally came out in 1999) and no Windows 7 (or Vista vor that matter) support, and had to use (hopefully) the last XP driver.

OK, I wasn't sure about the Audigy cards. At one time I was a big Creative fan but not so much these days. Mostly because there tech support sucks and they take forever updating drivers. Yeah, the SB Live cards are old. lol I've still got one or two kicking around here somewhere. At my age my onboard sound sounds OK, I probably couldn't hear the difference anyway.
