    UPS Printer

    kdogg said:
I have a thermal label printer that is manufactured by Zebra. It's used for printing UPS labels etc.

Windows sees it as UPS Thermal 2844 but says it has no drivers.

I've tried getting all the various driver packages from Zebra's web page for this model and it simply won't work. Windows says it can't even find a driver for the dang thing.

This is my work computer so I'm kinda SOL til I can figure something out.

I figure someone has to have run into this by now. I tried Googling but found nothing.

    Help!
There is a version of Zebra LP2844 which was developed for solely for UPS, which have special UPS firmawre installed. and will not work with standard Zebra drivers. Not sure whether is is why you have the problem but seeing as Windows sees it as UPS 2844 rather than Zebra 2844, I think this is what the problem is.

I don't know of any work-around. probably get yourself a Zebra version or use someything like Toshiba TEC, which are way better than Zebra printers.

    Regards

    Rob

    Zebra ZP 450 Fix

I believe my trouble started with a power outage. I finally took the time today to try and diagnose the issue (hasn't printed for over a month).

I found this very helpful video and it solved my problem. I tested it at UPS's website to make sure. Hope it helps you. It basically resets your printer. Good luck!

    Update to my post yesterday

I thought I had the solution, but I tried using UPS today, and my labels did not print. So, when all else fails...you have to call them. It was quite a process getting it restored, but it works now and I would recommend you just call them. They will email you the driver, then walk you through install and proper setup within their website.

    Support's phone number is: 877-289-6418

To save a bit of time here is the zip file...but don't do anything till you have them on the phone.

    Good luck

    Hello guys,
I just registered to tell you what the root of the problem is.

It is because Win7 recognize it as UPS thermal 2844 (The UPS version has a UPS special firmware). What you need to do is to download the ZDownloader and the latest standard firmware from zebra website (Requires registration, about 2 minutes). Then you reflash your UPS thermal 2844 with the standard firmware.

After the flash, you win7 will recognize the printer as a Zdesigner 2844 and you win7 will install all the driver automatically in 5 seconds.

Problem solved. Now I can used my printer for general printing. Also works for ebay and paypal.

This is what I did after couple hours trying to install the UPS Thermal Printer 2844.

Follow the steps in this order.
1.- Download the Zebra driver from this link.
    Zebra Windows Printer Drivers.
2.- Unzip the file on his default folder.
3.- Open file manager a look for the file name DRIVERWIZARD.EXE (Computer:Windows:Seagull)
4.- Select the file, right Click and run it as ADMINISTRATOR
5.- On the Wizard Menu choose INSTALL THE PRINTER DRIVERS
6.- On Printer List go all the way down a select ZEBRA UPS 2844
7.- VERY IMPORTANT rename the printer name as UPS THERMAL 2844 Otherwise UPS Online will not find the printer.
IT HAPPENED TO ME that's why I expended some many time back and forth
Follow the prompts if the system ask for restart, restart the machine
8.- Plug your Thermal Printer to your computer
    9.- Turn it on
10.- Wait for Windows install the printer by itself
11- If Windows ask for restart, do it again.
12.- Log on UPS.COM and try.
    Good Luck.
It works to me after 4 hours looking for a solution.
Ps.. My Thermal printer was perfect on Windows XP.. I bought a new computer with Windows 7 64Bits that's why I have to install the Thermal on the new computer.
