Windows Update will tell you when there is a new driver for your hardware available from MS. Otherwise, this usually mean it's stable (if no updates are available). However, instabilities may still occur and it's essential to see whether your drivers are up-to-date. By going to "Device Manager" (WinKey -> Type "Device Manager"), you will be able to see all your devices and their driver versions. By this, you can compare the newest version number at the manufacturer's download site, from your current.

Driver Update Softwares won't do you good. It's better to stay with Windows Updates and Manual Updates.

The difference is Windows Update is created by Microsoft and is built for Windows. This implies a significant stability. Meanwhile, driver update softwares are 3rd Party. Therefore, they do their job their own way. Driver Update Softwares usually cause problems. It's essentially better to stay away to 3rd Party Driver Update Softwares, Register Cleaners, Windows Tweakers, especially when they're not well-known, as there is no need to. You can still use them if you want, many find them good, but the risk is on you.
