My USB 3.0 do not work (USB 2.0 do)

    Hello,

In Computer Manager/Device Manager I see at the bottom Universal Serial Bus controllers and 8 lines.

Above 'Other Devices' 2 Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controllers & Unknown Device all with the yellow ! mark. Their boxes say 'Drivers not installed'.

New self build machine and been like it from the start. (Otherwise perfect and very fast.)

    MS W7 Pro 64bit

    Asus P8Z68-V Pro

    Intel Core I-2600 3.40GHz

Bios has both USB 2.0 and 3.0 enabled.

    HELP

Assume I can manage (at 80) to go to and get drivers from ASUS site BUT how do I choose for the unknown devices presumably what are causing the problem?

I have searched the site but it is so complicated, usuing the right big cables and no hubs atatched.

    I believe you want this.
there have apparently been many updates to it, but so far as I could determine this is the most recent.

Thank you so much for the reply and software package. Absolutely brilliant solution.

Cannot understand why you did not show up in all my searching before.

Ran it and it works perfectly now. Used it on my massive folders of 7,500 photos in Photo shop Elements 10, 7,500 images to BU on a new 2 Terabyte EHD.

Curiously it is no more that 10% faster in USB 3.0 that it was in USB 2.0, so much for the hype.

Very happy to mark this as solved and happy. Can get back in my routine now.

They also offer a package they call the usb 3.0 boost package.
I do not know if this will have any hope or not of speeding up the usb 3.0 port but it's worth a shot.
Keep in mind the hard drive's actual speed starts to come into play when you are steady at much over 100megs/sec transfer rate.

They have a habit of putting large low rpm drives in those enclosures to help save a few bucks.

    Thanks for booster info.

I took a lot of trouble - and expense to get the highest rated reviwed device, FREECOM EHD XS 3.0 2 TERABYTS. Warning. Needs a lot of care to get the precise one and at least one site obscures so you cannot be sure, and supplies a lower USB 2.0 at a higher price.

Again, greatfull to you - and site.

My personal favorite are the drives that come with a 'special dock' for usb 3.0.
When the drives are in fact 2.0 to begin with.
