Windows 7 Black Screen after Graphics Driver Install
Hi there
Already tried this, btw:
Black screen after installing graphics drivers
I've pretty much done everything I've found. I have a custom built desktop from like three and a half years ago or so:
MOBO: Intel DH55HC
CPU: Intel Core i5 650 3.19-3.45 GHz
GPU: GeForce GT 610 1 GB
RAM: 4 GB 1066 MHz
HDD: WDC 200 GB SATA
TOSHIBA 1 TB SATA
I have Ubuntu installed in the 200 GB drive since quite a long time, there I have my proper nVIDIA drivers installed and working with no problem, yesterday I installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on a 285 GB (or so) partition on the TOSHIBA drive, after initial setup I installed the Network drivers, no problem, YET. Then, already having internet access, I installed Google Chrome, no big deal, later I proceeded to get the latest Recommended/Certified nVIDIA Driver (376.33) from geforce.com for my GPU, everything's ok, not a single problem yet, I restart the machine and after the "Starting Windows" screen, it goes to black. In the link I added above to another thread on these forums I read that it's due to some parts of the GPU are burnt out, so they don't work with OpenGL and any other related stuff. Though this didn't make sense to me because it's working flawlessly on Ubuntu (also the GRUB is ok, if you're wondering) I did a clean uninstallation of nVIDIA drivers (through safe mode, as I can't see nothing in normal mode) and image is back. I reinstalled, and again the same issue. I even properly removed the GPU and used the MOBO's graphics adapter, I installed the proper Intel driver and same issue. I had decided to leave it this way, but I can't play most videogames, they crash or just won't run. So now I've put my GPU back in place, and I'm using it without drivers, what in the world is going on with Windows 7?!!! As it's obviously the source of the problem.
