Sony vaio laptop drive not recognising discs anymore

Hiya, please help if you can. My son was mucking about on his Vaio Laptop windows 7 and did a terrible thing - he copied and pasted a script .vbs (pop out your dvd drive(?) I have no idea what that means, but it don't sound good, and now it is making a funny noise and wont play any discs. Any idea guys, would really appreciate the help. Many thanks.

Hi Elaine22, Welcome to the forums , Your best option at this point in time is to do a system restore System Restore find a restore point prior to when your son messed around

What does "no joy" mean in this context?

    You have no System Restore?

You have System Restore, but you have no restore points to a time prior to your son fooling around?

You have System Restore points prior to the time your son was fooling around, but they won't run to completion?

System Restore has in fact restored the PC to a time prior to your son fooling around, but the problem persists?

    Other??

Pepply we are going to try that now.............. i will get back to you in a while, thanks so much for trying to help us.

Inazasonic - thanks for your reply. What i meant by no joy, was that we tried a system restore and we had the same problem, it did not resolve the issue

You,re very welcome Elaine, You could always look in the startup menu and see if anything with a .vbs extention is running and remove it from there :)
