    3com fast ethernet port driver

I'm helping my friend fix up his comp, but he lost the drivers to his ethernet port. He did a clean install of his computer without really talking to me, so all drivers are lost. We installed windows 7 for his main OS, but it dosnt seem to support this driver natively.

He had a 3com 3C920B-EMB integrated fast ethernet controller for the last driver, but finding it now seems to be impossible. If anyone knows anything specific on how i could get the drivers again, or how if theres an updated driver that would work for the same card thatd be great. Im pretty sure the ethernet port is built on the motherboard, its an old hp computer, before they were really reliable IMO. He does not have any of the driver discs or anything, bad with computers =\

any help would be greatly appriciated

    thanks,
    tom

Put the driver on your desktop.. Navigate to the Device Manager page, open the Network Interface tab ... update driver... when it asks for a location, open the desktop, choose the new driver... hopes this helps....

if there is no better answer
    this should apply..
you need to get computer management or the device manager (just typing in device manager should get you there) and then use that to get where you need to be...
    then follow this...
    https://www.sevenforums.com/50790-post103.html
of course you must choose your own device and point to your own driver inf...
you should be able to just right click the driver inf and click install, if not then follow this guide and apply it to your own device...
if you need any help just reply back...

Hey this is an old post but i have a similar problem.... Before i upgraded to Win7 i used that compatibilty check tool to see if my PC could handle it. It said i would end up having problems with my 3com 3c920 integrated fast ethernet controller. Well now when i try to play CounterStrike online, i get really high pings on servers and this causes my fps to drop precipitously (or so i think this is whats happening as none of my video fixes have worked...updated drivers, rolled back drivers, turned off vsync, put vid card to high performance instead of high quality).

The problem is, i cant find any windows 7 or even Vista compatible drivers for this ethernet controller.... is my motherboard that outdated?!
