    MS VX3000 Initialization error

I am using Windows 7 build 7100 X64. I have a Microsoft VX3000 Webcam. I think when I first installed it, it was working. I have been beating my brains out searching on the web for solutions and seen some threads here, nothing has fixed the initilization error (that's why I get when I try and run the Lifecam software). I can't even get into configuration.

I listed my hardware profile upon signing up so you can see it, it's kind of oldish system, socket 939.

I know the webcam works, with the latest drivers, in Windows XP SP3 on another system.

I have changed USB ports. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I've tried manually loading the .inf file.

It shows, in Device Manager, that the driver is working ok, both for the cam and the sound of the mic. I have tried, as I said, loading the .inf files for both of those.

I am using Norton's Beta Internet Security. I have a Razer Lachesis Mouse with the latest drivers for it.

I really need this to work because my loved ones live in another country right now and I miss them seeing me and me seeing them.

How do I report this to MS?

Does anyone have some ideas on what I can do to fix this?

You can try this method - you can install the vista driver (preferably as its the one thats will more than likely have the least issues) or if that doesnt work you can try the xp driver. To resolve the OS mismatch with these drivers, so they will install on W7 do the following thats if they wont install normally and you get an error :

To install a driver OR program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with vista/xp etc - check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.

    Go here to dowload http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/do...x?category=ICE

If you have already tried the vista driver and are having the problems listed go straight to installing the xp driver.

That is the one that isn't working for me, 3.0. I have also tried 2.9 and it won't work, same initialization error.

I read somewhere that initialization errors are sometimes connected to program conflicts...
