driver for laserjet 6l on windows 7 64 bit
Has anyone successfully found a driver for the above and installed it? I have a conversion cable from parallel port to usb.

Hi jancowper, Welcome to the forums, You can use any of the PCL 5 drivers for the printer
1. go to Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers
2. Add a printer, add a local printer
3. Use an existing port - DOT4 001
4. Choose HP 3050's driver from the list
the HP 3050 driver quoted is the only one I found that contained a win7 64bit driver, the DOT4 001 is a USB port not an LPT port , this may be the only workaround for this printer
Pebbly - Many thanks for your detailed suggestion. There was not a DOT4 001 port offered on the list but I used a USB (virtual) port and then downloaded the 3050 driver. The test page printed perfectly but a word odcument was formatted correctly but all mumbo jumbo. Ironically an excel document printed the bold heading boxes ok but the content underneath was mumbo jumbo. I am still working on this problem.
jancowper100,
Does this look like it could work?
HP LaserJet 6L Printer series - Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center
I'm still using my laserjet 4 and a brand new 8000 series all-n-one with great success. You can also ask W7 to look for more drivers from HP and a list will pull up and it may take an hour to find your printer but it'll be there. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

The HP Link does not work as the printer is no longer listed or supported on their site. The windows compatability site shows clearly that this printer is not supported on windows 7 64 bit. The community suggests it does work but there are no details of they actually made it work. So I am still looking for a solution.

I didn't notice the statements next to download driver sorry. Have you tried the Vista 64 bit driver, if not then load and try that. Otherwise if you don't get all or any functions then it could be time to look into a new printer. My upper tray feed quit on my older all-n-one and I called HP and the gave me a swinging deal on a new model and even traded my ink/toner as long as it was sealed and in a warranty period.

Vista (64 bit) does appear to support the Laserjet 6L and may well work on my machine. However I can't load the driver as the list is predetermined by the Operating System you have installed (in my case Windows 7) so the driver for the printer does not appear. The legacy drivers are not available from HP.com.

Wow....fun and games! I'm blown away that my 30yr old HP4 still is supported but your printer isn't, maybe volume wise there are lots more HP4's still out there then yours. Good news is printers are relatively cheap and maybe you can give it to someone still running a xp machine?
Yes it's a nightmare. I hate the implied obsolescence of all this especially when my Laserjet 6L is a quality printer that still works perfectly! Better than my cheapo HP 3050 all in one.
