There is no "Unkown Device" in Device Manager, the only item with "!" is "Mass Storage Controller" under the "Other Device".

BTW:SFEP Driver is a single .sys file, how can I "install" it?

The sfep is a info file and has to be installed thru device manager using browse for the file it has no installer. In post 18 wakefield is saying its installed thru windows update now so it might already be installed - i think your mass storage controller with the yellow mark is a memory card reader - the texas instrument one - try the v2.0.0.8.zip 1.0.1.20 or V..9 version - NOTE YOU MAY NEED TO JOIN ZDNET FOR THE DOWNLOAD TO WORK

below is another thread that might be useful :
Sony Vaio NS11J Drivers and FN Key Win7 64bit

They are downloading most drivers from the ftp site:

The yellow "!" is gone for Mass Storage Controller. But there are still no ICONs of SD card reader and Memory Stick reader in My Computer.

I tried the rest installations as Wakeboard116 has indicated previously and now:

    mute key is working
    volume control is working

    I still need to fix:

    "AV mode" key is still not working, so the rest media control keys (below touchpad) like forward, backward, play and stop still don't work;

No icons of "Memory Stick" and "SD Card Reader" under My Computer, and I haven't tried to insert one memory stick or SD to test if it works.

"Capture" key is not working, I think I need a driver for the CR-4000 webcam; (this is most important one that I need for I can't video-chat any more!)

Cna any one help with the issues, thank you very much in advance!!!! Urgent!!!!!!

    ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/VAIO/ORIGINAL/
There is about 6 versions of the webcam driver on the ftp - your original driver is 6.1006.209.0 try one of the later ricoh drivers - download then all if necessary - unzip them and see if they support 64bit OS -They probably wont install if they are the wrong version * note here wakefeild was saying some of the 32bit drivers were installing but they are probably for both versions and hard to find in the files so just try if in doubt as all you will get is an error and it wont install.

There is battery files there also under battery checker- i mean you going to have work this out yourself i dont own a vaio laptop and have no means of experimenting - i would suggest if you cant get something to work and its urgent buy another one and or try w732bit

The ftp site is above with all the drivers - to get an idea what your searching for go to the original site for the cr4000 - Sony eSupport - VGN-CR4000 - Software Updates & Drivers click on the file to download - that takes you to the next driver page that will have the version on it and other info then got to the ftp site and try and find a driver.

I also have a vaio (VGN FE-21B) and just yesterday installed on it windows 7. I have the same problem with the fn keys.
First I tried the utilities from my initial install packages (the ones for xp), and of course it did'nt work.
Then I tried installing the utilities in compbatibility mode, and that did't work also.
I just tried installing them the way you mentioned at the beggining of the post (in the specific order), but that did't work for me, though everything seems to be installing fine.
My fn keys still don't work!
Also, when installing and reinstalling the utils, some uninstall their drivers, and then I need to reinstall them.
    Any ideas?

The truth is that my model is not supported (by sony) for windows 7 upgrade (sais so the sony support).
But I was hoping to find an unofficial way to mod my fn keys, just like I succesfully did with my graphics card following a thread of this site.

After trying many utilities (including other vaio models') I installed the vista utilities of my model, in combatibility mode. Now I can turn volume up-down (with no screen volume info), but still I can't reduce the brightness of my screen.
It's a shame for big companies like sony, that they don't support previous models for win 7, when they mark these as vista ready (which is far heavier as o.s.).

    Hi,

I have CR4000 with 4GB of RAM. I installed a clean install of Win7 32 Bit. I originally had a problem with the camera, the Function keys and the card reader. It worked after installing the Sony Shared Library from Sony's support even though this was for Vista it worked with with Win7 and then I was able to update the camera and fun keys with the files on Sony's site. The only thing that won't work is to enable the Win XP virtual mood as this needs Bios update that Sony still won't do!
