    Driver Updaters - legitimate?

I've been running across systems that have these little driver utilities installed. On one laptop, I saw that there were 3! Driver Detective, Driver Medic and Driver Tool. They don't seem to be malware, but I'm always leary of these type of "fix-it" utilities.

What is generally thought of these utilities?

    Thanks!

    "If ain't broke don't fix"

Don't mess up with your drivers as long as they work fine, you may periodically update important drivers (like your display/sound driver) but it is recommended to leave other drivers in their current state.

Driver Updaters are largely regarded as "Snake Oil", they may cause serious issues like BSODs if by some means they mismatch/improperly install drivers. The time to worry about new drivers is when one of your hardware devices isn't working as it should. A new driver could definitely help you in that situation. But if all is well, just leave your drivers 'as they are'. Avoid such software.

    Snake Oil

At their very best if they were 100%, which they are not. They Only accomplish a task that you can easily preform yourself.
