    Try downloading from here:

HP Deskjet F300 All-in-One Printer series*-* Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center

If it doesn't let you download you may have to register. A hotmail address is good enough.

edit: Don't let the word "Business" in the title of the page scare you off. They don't charge for support. It's HP users who volunteer answers like here. They call it "Businees" because back then the users all had "Business" class machines. But now the user PCs have caught up in power. Many of those on the forum are familiar with the equipment you are using.

HP Deskjet F300 All-in-One Printer series - HP All-in-One Printers - Installing the Product Software in Windows 7 for a USB Cable Connection by Downloading the Software or Using the Windows Update Driver - c01890565 - HP Business Support Center
in this page i found instructions that i didnt know how to follow in order to download the driver
should i download the HP printer install wizard in order to be able to download the printer's driver?
    do you recommend doing that?

What happens if you unplug the printer, then plug it back in? Since I switched to USB printer I've been using Epson. Most of them have a hot pluggable driver. Some models you can't even download the driver. It's in the firmware.

Just for grins try unplugging the printer and plugging back in while the system is up.

edit: also I would ask on that HP forum. Your chances are higher of running into somebody who owns that exact printer. Sometimes you can find out stuff there you won't get anywhere else. I used to have HP Media Center PCs that would lock up when they got hot. Somebody on that forum told me about an "Easter Egg" that opened a page in the BIOS settings only known to the setup techs. On that page I could adjust the fan thresholds. No more lockups. :)

    HP Printer driver Installation

Ensure that you have down loaded the Driver for Vista from HP site.
Now switch on the printer and connect it to the computer ( which is already booted).
In control panel ---> Printer , you will see it as un unknown device as detected by Vista. Rt click on the unknown device---> Properties and un install its driver installed by Vista.
Now again Control Panel - Printer --> Add a printer --> follow the screen ---> select the folder to install Driver . If the driver is correct it will install the driver for the Printer and the Ptinter name will appear in Control Panel --> Printer screen.
Try this & let me know
