Sony Vaio problems with Windows 7  

Hello, I own a Sony Vaio VGN-BX51XP. I recently installed Windows 7 but lost all the drivers. I tried to search for drivers for Windows 7 but there aren't any, the only ones I could find were for windows XP.

Is there any solution to this?

Also, I didn't unnistall windows xp first, I thought I could just delete it after installing windows 7, and I did delete all the files in the windows xp folder but it still ocupies 15gb, and when I turn on the pc it still asks me which windows I want to initiate.

Any input on these 2 questions would be appreciated.

Drivers for your computer; windows 7 can use vista drivers (they may need to be installed in compatibility mode). If you fill in your system specs (lower left corner) we would know which drivers you need for your hardware.

Dual booting (or do you need xp). If you are happy with win 7 and dont need anything from xp you can delete the xp partition and may need to move the boot folder to the win 7 partiton. Let us know what y ou want to do with the XP

This is a no-no.

What you need to do is a clean install. Back-up your data externally and boot from your windows 7 CD. Select Custom Install, format the drive and install.

Hopefully Win 7 will install drivers for your hardware and we can help you from there on even more. :)

I already did a clean install but instead i did it in a hard disk that didn't have windows XP. Or are you saying to that process again? Which if I did would windows 7 remain in the other hard disk aswell?

I didn't quite understand how to delete the xp partition I tried doing it manually and formatting the the hard disk but it does not work. I want to delete Windows XP.

I filled out the basic specs. (Which are not appearing on my avatar, don't know why)

I don't understand all the terminology, but if by partition you mean hard disk, then yes I have 2. On hard disk 1 I have windows xp that I can't seem to delete and on hard disk 2 I have Windows 7.

Yes, but I managed to delete the majority of files from the windows xp folder, so when given the option with which windows I want to initiate, I can no longer initiate with Windows xp.

In order to not break win 7 boot leave the hidden "boot" folder in the xp folder. It can be deleted if you want to do a little boot loader editing. Anything else can and should be deleted.

Well, here's the thing.. I already deleted everything on the windows xp folder, only one folder remains and oddly enough it's the Macromedia folder which contains flash player. Some how it still ocupies 15gb on my hard disk like I said before, but the folder is only 5MB.

I just would like to format that entire hard disk and get rid of the dual booting option when I start the pc.
